See the Math will provide experienced tutors with 5 to 10 years of experience in one-to-one and small-group intervention using Concrete-Pictorial-Abstract (CPA) instructional strategies.

CPA cultivates visual mathematical reasoning using digital manipulatives, concrete objects found at home, and drawings that students create during their sessions.

The CPA method draws on students’ strengths of their “concrete-operational” stage of cognitive development, where their ability to understand using hands-on exploration is stronger than their ability to memorize math facts without proper context. Simply, when students explore and evaluate what they see, it better holds their attention and promotes deeper understanding.

In addition, students may spend more time engaged in actual learning during our 25-minute tutoring sessions than they may spend during the 1 to 2 hours of math instruction in the classroom.

Lastly, we will provide innovative homework assignments to further engage students in learning math visually.
